Buffalo

lyrics

This house was built
On sand and stilts,
And aged bricks,
A physical eulogy.

In the sticks
Spent years adrift
And years undone,
And nobody wants to go there.
To Buffalo.

My father spent
Hours on end
Trying to mend
What his father started.

And the children
Watched and waited
For their turn
So someone would want to go there.
To Buffalo.

Mapping out your memories,
It isn't easy to do
When that old house up the dirt road
Means nothing to you.
Or does it now
When you begin to map your stars?
Mending your own paradise
It isn't very far.
